A BUSSELTON man police allege is responsible for a number of fraud offences and burglaries in recent months appeared in a Bunbury court on Monday.
The 41-year-old Hobson Street resident’s crime spree came to an end when he burgled a business in the Geographe (Bayside) shopping complex on Saturday.
Busselton Police OIC Senior Sergeant Steve Principe said the man entered the IGA store between 9-10.30am and got into the staff area of the business. There he unsuccessful attempted to open the safe before making off with an iPhone.
Police enquiries and security footage led to the man’s arrest.
In addition to the burglary charge relating to this offence, he was also charged with a burglary at the West Busselton IGA store on November 27, and the burglary of a Geographe Bay residence on January 14. He was also charged with stealing vehicle registration plates on January 2.
In addition, he faced seven counts of credit card fraud. Police alleged he stole a wallet and went on a spending spree to the tune of $6732 in Bunbury, purchasing new tyres and rims, and a stereo for his vehicle, clothing, two iPhones, a suitcase and kitchen ware.
Snr Sgt Principe said police had been hunting for this offender for some time, and had recovered stolen items from his address.
In other matters; a women’s grey-and-white Huffy mountain bike was stolen from the Geographe shopping centre on Saturday.
A red Suzuki Vitara, registration number 1CJX329, was stolen from Fairway Drive between 10pm on Saturday and 3am on Sunday.
Two collapsible black Yokohama mountain bikes were stolen from Busselton Villas and Caravan Park between 9.30am on Friday and 3.30pm on Saturday.
