WITH the commencement of the school year, a raft of new teachers will also begin at Cornerstone Christian College, with the aim of extending the college’s subject offerings.
Due to the growth of the college, nine additional teachers have been introduced to the Cornerstone community – with many of them bringing new and specialised skills which will enhance the educational programs and opportunities for students.
Teachers for drama, mandarin, specialised science, maths, english and art completed their orientation at the college prior to the commencement of school.
Additionally, two new pre-primary teachers, a new primary teacher and a teacher librarian will be walking the corridors of Cornerstone during this coming year.
All have been hand-selected for their educational excellence and experience, as well as a strong personal Christian faith.
Principal Bruce Douglas is delighted with the team that he has for the coming year.
“This promises to be an exciting year for us,” he said.
“The growth the college has recently experienced, has allowed us to make these extensions to our program.
“Students, across all year groups, will be the beneficiaries of these developments.
“This new team of teachers and support staff will add immeasurably to the already strong team we have at Cornerstone.”
With the departure of only three staff at the end of 2011, it means that the educational team at Cornerstone has grown by 10.
Will Meyer, Andrew Cleaver, Ren Douglas, Marilyn ven Beek, Brittany Haythornthwaite, Estelle Dragstra, Taryn Muir, Cindy Midgley and Mikael Sandlund are the new teachers.
