DUNSBOROUGH Police Station has taken Busselton shire councillor David Binks’ hair into custody and he needs a corporate sponsor to help him liberate his locks.
Officer-in-charge at the station, Sergeant Craig Anderson, said: “We are looking for a substantial corporate sponsor to donate his ‘bail’ to help Cr Binks secure the ‘release’ of his hair.
“The reward for paying the ‘bail’ will be the pleasure of having the ‘clippers in hand’ (under professional guidance of course) when Cr Binks’ hair is ‘let free’,” he said.
The liberation will be one of a series of events in the Dunsborough Police Station’s World’s Greatest Shave challenge, which will be at Lions Park in Dunsborough on Friday starting at 9.30am.
One of these will be the Simmo’s Icecream Challenge – Simmo has already made a fantastic donation, but will add to it should one of the officers consume a five-litre tub of liquorice ice-cream in 10 minutes.
“Our community team is slowly taking shape and we are encouraging anyone and everyone to come and join them to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“Get your hair coloured or be sponsored to shave it all for a very worthwhile cause,” Sgt Anderson said.
“The Year 7 school council from Dunsborough Primary will also be helping out in the morning, followed by a crazy hair day at school for a gold coin donation.”
There are some donation tins around town at some of the local businesses who are supporting the Dunsborough police, including the girls at Hot Chocolate and the hard-working crew at Tas’s Bakery.
“There are also several other prominent local ‘real estate heads’ who have semi-committed to the cause (Joe White and John Di Chiera) and we would like the public to encourage them to come on board and help us raise money.
“It’s fantastic to have Cr Binks volunteer his manicured look for the Worlds Greatest Shave and be part of the Dunsborough community team,” he said
Any local businesses interested in helping Cr Binks ‘liberate his locks’ or who would like to be a part of the cause can contact Sgt Craig Anderson at the Police Station on 9781 3030.
