Dunsborough man in fatal car crash

09 Sep, 2009 09:48 AM
POLICE yesterday revealed the name of a Dunsborough man who died after his car crashed into a tree on Railway Road, Elgin, on Sunday.

He was Brendon John Vlasschaert, 21.

South West Traffic officer-in-charge Sergeant Gerard Murphy said the man was driving on Railway Road at about 6.30am when he lost control of the car.

Sgt Murphy said speed and fatigue may also have been factors in the crash. The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

“Fatigue and no seatbelt is a pretty horrendous combination,” Sgt Murphy said.

The death brings the number of fatalities on WA roads to 116 so far this year, including 77 in regional areas.
