Fremantle Dockers come to Busselton and Dunsborough

03 Feb, 2010 11:25 AM
MATTHEW Pavlich, Aaron Sandilands, Mark Harvey and the Fremantle Dockers will be travelling south tomorrow for a tough away ‘match-up’.

Their opponents will be the Dunsborough Junior Football Club, and the Dockers will have to be at their best to combat the Dunsborough players’ fantastic footskills, amazing agility and dogged determination.

But first they will travel around to other schools in the Busselton shire to address students on the rigours of playing AFL.

The best opportunity to meet the players and see them in action will be tomorrow at the Dunsborough Playing Fields.

Arrive at 3.45pm for a 4pm start. The players will conduct a NAB Auskick Superclinic for children aged five to 12 years, before the playing group conducts a training session for the South-West Academy of Sport’s talent squad.

Local community coaches are also invited to attend and join in a workshop with the Fremantle coaching staff during this time.

There will be opportunities for autographs after the event.

Fremantle’s community goals manager David Crute said: “The superclinic on Thursday will be a great event for everyone to come together and for the children to learn football skills from their AFL heroes.”

Tomorrow night, at 7.30pm Mark Harvey and some players, including Aaron Sandilands and Adam McPhee, will attend a local sportsman’s night at the Naturalist Community Centre.

Tickets are $99 and are available from Geoff Barr on 0437 616 478 or Margaret Dean on 0409 116 889 or send an email to dfcfundz@live.com.au

All proceeds raised at the Sportsman’s Night will help the Dunsborough Junior Football Club fund lights to be erected at the new sports ground, which will benefit the entire community.

And on Friday the Dockers will be in Busselton for a sports administrators’ breakfast at The Goose from 7.30-9am.

Funded and supported by the Department of Sport and Recreation, the breakfast will cost $30 per person and includes a buffet.

All proceeds go to the Busselton Junior Football Association. For information or to register, please phone Sports Power Busselton on 9752 2457.
