SOUTHERN Districts Agricultural Society president Wally Lord is to meet with Busselton police with the aim of stamping out antisocial behaviour at the show.
Mr Lord said it had put a dampener on one of the most successful shows in the past 10-15 years.
“We had the best attendance, the trades spaces were full, the stock pens were full, it was a great family event, despite this incident,” he maintained.
Mr Lord said his main objective was to put an end to bad behaviour.
“I will be meeting with the Busselton police to discuss strategies to minimise this sort behaviour in the future,” he said. “It has definitely got worse over the past few years and we are not happy about it. It’s time to take precautions; between the police and the members of the agricultural society, I’m confident we can do something to minimise incidents like this.”
Busselton Snr Sgt Scott Morrissey said that the police were more than willing to work with the agricultural society to try to put an end to violence and disruption caused by a small minority of people.
He said that the problem was fuelled by a combination of “alcohol, drugs and a lack of parental supervision”.
