PHIL Carr, Gareth Owen and Anne Race don’t have a cent between them but they’ve managed to travel across Australia and, in the process, raise $20,000 for the charity Book Aid International.
The trio left their homes and jobs in the UK with little more than the clothes on their backs.
They rely on the generosity of those they meet for everything from their food and accommodation to phone cards and fuel.
They have been picking up paid work along the way and donating any income they make to Book Aid International – an organisation dedicated to supporting literacy in developing countries.
The travellers were in Busselton last week and were full of praise for the support and generosity of local folk.
They were given phone credit from Greg Shaw at NovaTech. Caltex on Strelly Street donated fuel and the Amaroo Hotel provided their accommodation.
Thanks to the Dunsborough Fruit and Veg Shak, Mr Sushi, Goa Curry, Kent Street Bakery and the Geographe Cheese Co, the three set off to their next destination with food in their bellies and determination in their hearts.
