IT was a great day for bowlers in the under-14 cricket match between Dunsborough and GMAS.
Dunsborough elected to bowl, which proved a masterstroke as they restricted GMAS to 29.
Nick Bender and James Sorgiovanni opened the batting and faced out Dunsborough’s opening pair of Emmett Carroll and Mitch Fairclough, but Max Montanari’s introduction to the attack produced a devastating spell of bowling.
He broke the opening partnership and finished with three wickets. He was backed up well with maidens from Tynan Benstead, Blake Glasspool and Matt Annert.
Runs proved hard to come by for GMAS and wickets fell steadily. Glasspool was a perfect example of Dunsborough’s excellent bowling, taking 2-2. Aided by a run out from Mitch Fairclough, they dismissed GMAS for 29 after 18 overs.
GMAS started well in the field with Liam Smoker running out one of the Dunsborough openers, however they couldn’t maintain the pressure and Dunsborough passed their total in just eight overs.
Despite the convincing loss, the GMAS bowlers continued to toil hard and managed to dismiss Dunsborough for 118. Liam Kelly was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets.
They put in a commendable bowling performance to restrict Dunsbrough to 118.
GMAS’s fielding was impressive, with two great throws from James Sorgiovanni and Liam Kelly taking the tally of runouts to three.
