Vasse’s strong batting lineup failed to fire as they were bundled out for 103, with Damien Helliwell (28) the only score of note.

Nick Watts and Cameron Bresland were the standout bowlers for Dunsborough, taking 3-4 and 3-14 respectively. Alex Eades took two wickets for Vasse, but an unbeaten half century from Jake Finney helped Dunsborough cruise to victory.

Kevin Rice claimed a magnificent five-wicket haul to help Abba defeat St Marys in their B-grade clash. His figures of 5-18 along with two wickets each from Nayton and Haig Columbera helped them rout St Marys for 93.

Abba reached the total for the loss of just one wicket, with Deon Homer 28-not-out and Nayton Columbera scoring the bulk of the runs.

Cowaramup won the closest match of the round against Yobs. An unbeaten 50 from Tom Sibson and 46 from Jarrod Simpson lifted Yobs to 8-160, with Phil Armstrong (3-34) the pick of the Cowaramup bowlers.

In reply Shane Bywater, 42, and Aaron Holben, 37no, helped Cowaramup chase down Yobs’ total with four wickets in hand.

The match between Augusta and Hawks was washed out

In C-grade cricket Anthony Sudale spearheaded Nannup to their sixth win of the season, with a fine individual performance.

His 91 runs helped them reach 7-178 against St Marys and he followed it up with the bowling figures of 3-16, as Nannup restricted St Marys to 8-145 in reply.

Third-placed Vasse took on second-placed Dunsborough and emerged victorious after a fine 58 from Brad Hallyburton. He was aided by 30 from Terry Allen and 15 from Lee Maxwell. Redmond Sweeny was the pick of the Dunsborough bowlers with 4-39. Despite a fine knock from Mick Jarratt (30 not out) Dunsborough were kept to 118 thanks to some good bowling from Vasse, who shared the wickets around.

In the other matches Hawks defeated Augusta by 141 runs and Yobs chased down Cowaramup’s total for the loss of just two wickets.
