BUSSELTON Bowling Club’s ladies third division pennants side celebrated the end of their season by claiming the pennants shield for the ninth time.
And the promise of an end-of-season dinner at Albies on Thursday, meant that only 18 members turned up to bowls that same morning (which was sponsored by Albies). Of those that did show up Jennie Bruce, Dianne Fancote and Anne Seiber were the winners.
Several teams also competed in the Bunbury Classic on the long weekend, but only one team had a win. Judy Rice, Gail Botting, Blodwyn Hart and Lyn Burrows won the Saturday day prize.
The Busselton men commenced their championship singles on Sunday and a huge number of entries (54) caused a few headaches for captain Ron Grigg. He was unable to play himself due to the task of organising games.
The event will continue for the rest of the week when the greens and the players are available to compete.
