BUSSELTON-Margaret River under-16 C-grade cricketers were crowned Country Week 2010 champions after an undefeated campaign.

They started with a win against Mount Barker on day one, with captain Haig Colombera, Jack Mackay and Kayde Baker taking two wickets each as Busselton-Margaret River dismissed their opponents for 148.

A good partnership from Sam Parrot and Sam Busetti and an even better one from Baker and Zac Davies lifted Busselton Margaret River to 196.

On day two Busselton-Margaret River batted first against Merredin.

Haig Colombera starred, scoring his first ever century and Liam Cremen and Kayde Baker also chipped in as they reached 264 from their 50 overs.

Then Drew Watson and Zac Davies ripped through the Merredin middle order to dismiss them for 97 in reply.

Busselton-Margaret River continued their excellent bowling form on Day three, routing Broome for 54. Jack Mackay was the star with 3-10, while Colombera and Davies also impressed.

Justin Gower, Sam Busetti and Sam Parrot helped Busselton-Margaret River make short work of the run chase and they declared on 7-78 off just 15 overs.

Busselton-Margaret River started day four on a damp artificial pitch, due to overnight sprinklers.

They faced Green Range Ongerup, who were also undefeated.

They batted first and made 8-160, thanks to some sloppy fielding and catching from Busselton-Margaret River.

In reply they were struggling at 4-84 and needed five runs an over to win. Liam Cremen and Kayde Baker took up the challenge and put on a quickfire 65-run partnership to lift their side to 182.

On the final day Busselton-Margaret River amassed a huge 296 against Narrogin, with Gower, Busetti, Watson and Colombera all notching half-centuries.

A quickfire 24 off 18 balls from Henry Shawcross finished off the innings.

In reply Narrogin were all out for 104, completing Busselton-Margaret’s unbeaten week.
