ROSE Buswell was presented with life membership of the Busselton Squash Club, for being a prominent member and her service to the club for many years.
She first started playing squash in Busselton in 1984 and since then has filled several key positions at the club: Committee member 16 years, president 1994-95, 1998-99, 2004, ladies captain 1993, 1996 and vice president 1997.
Organising the Busselton Country Week teams and accommodation as well as playing has been another job Rose has helped out with.
She was also a long-standing president of the Wednesday Ladies Club and ran and promoted the competition, which played Bunbury and Collie clubs.
At its peak there were 10 teams with A and B-grade sides.
Rose also organises and promotes Friday junior squash and caters for local schools to play during the day.
Many juniors have their first taste of squash at the Busselton courts and, as a qualified coach, she has helped many to learn the finer points of the game.
Rose is always keen to organise and participate in a variety of fundraising events, to run tournaments and to promote squash in Busselton at every opportunity.
She has managed the Busselton Squash Centre for the past 10 years. 2009 is her first year of pennants for five years, but she has never lost her passion for the game.
Rose joins Alan Williams, Kay Cruickshank and Jean Clayton as life members of the club.
