TWO sibling double acts led Yallingup’s charge in the Brownes Chill WA Junior Surfing Titles at Trigg beach on the weekend.
Mikaela Greene and her younger sister Eliza both won their divisions – the under-18 junior women’s and the under-14 girls respectively.
Mikaela snatched a last-minute win with a 4.65 ride, enough to sneak ahead of Bronte Macaulay (Gracetown), who had led for most of the final. Carly Lynch (Dunsborough) finished third and Eliza was fourth.
Eliza also went on to win the Grommet girls division in an awesome showing from the Yallingup sisters.
The runner-up in her division, Riley Nagtzaam, was also part of a successful family team with her brother Duke winning the under-12 micro-groms division.
At times he made the waves look bigger than what they were, because of his size, but led the charge, picking off even the smallest waves during the 25-minute final.
Duke just pipped Kila Hatchett (Margaret River), Lewis Scott (Kalbarri) and Jed Mattisons (Margaret River) in the final.
The next event of the Brownes Chill WA Junior Surfing Titles moves to the Margaret River area in April where the under-18 junior men, under-16 cadet boys and girls finals will be completed.
