Golf day success

14 Dec, 2011 01:59 PM
THE Busselton Golf Club was the host of a fundraising day last Sunday in aid of Geographe Bay Football Club’s Young Ambassador Emma Ryan.

In glorious conditions, more than 80 golfers enjoyed a sausage sizzle before setting off to tackle the course and attempt to take home some of the great prizes on offer.

It was an ambrose event with teams of four, and there was some great golf played.

No one played the course better than the group of Sandra and Noel Smith and Ric and Gillian Piirto.

They took out the event with a score of 54, with the team of Nigel Offler, Ron McDonald, Ian Stapleton and Phil Woods second.

There were lots of novelties including nearest the pins, longest drives and longest putts with Ron McDonald winning nearest to the pin on hole six and bagging himself a great prize from Brew n’ Bottle, just in time for Christmas.

Jeff Trott did a great job compering the event, with lots of fines going into the fundraising bucket.

Young Ambassador entrant Emma said: “It was a fantastic day and I would like to thank the Busselton Golf Club for hosting the event.

“Special thanks go to our sponsors who helped with the wonderful prizes on offer and I would also like to thank the players and all involved for their generosity on the day.”

The event raised over $2500 towards Emma’s fundraising goal.

She is looking forward to the next few weeks as the Festival of Busselton approaches.
