SOUTHERN Capes Motorcycle Club (SCMC) is revving up for another season.
The community-based and member-run club has been going for over 18 years and is growing every year.
And, they are inviting members of the community to participate in a ‘Go Moto Come and Try Day’ at the club. on Saturday.
The club’s new president Gary ‘Chalky’ Spiers said there are up to 180 riders at the club at any one year – a figure which is increasing with time.
“More riders under 15 are joining us each year and we are focused on providing an atmosphere and environment that encourages families to participate in our club,” he said.
Chalky says the club feels it is important to get the community involved in sports, as it creates a good environment for kids to participate in fun activities.
“Motocross is an extreme sport which can be enjoyed at any level of ability,” he said.
“This year is particularly exciting because of the commitment of local sponsors who are assisting SCMC.
“Trade Hire has become our major sponsor this season, which is fitting as their logo is ‘Locals supporting locals’.
“Already they have supplied us with equipment and machinery to upgrade and maintain the track and facilities and they donated their time to help out at our busy bees on weekends.
“Thanks also to Todd Brown from T.S. Brown Painting Services for helping at the busy bees as well.”
Chalky said all were welcome to join in the ‘Go Moto come and Try Day on Saturday from 8am-2pm.
“Bring your bike or quad and the necessary safety gear (helmet etc) and have a go,” he said.
