THREE Bukido Taijutsu students successfully graded for their red belt last weekend. The red belt is the fifth level of the art and grading for it consists of free sparring, multiple opponent sparring, ground fighting techniques and meditation postures.
In addition students must learn the basic techniques of the Hanbo (A one metre staff), combination cuts with a Katana (A Japanese sword) and techniques with and against the Tanto (A Japanese dagger).
Chris Grimes stood-out with his precision and effectiveness and Josh Payne and Matthew Robinson also scored a clear pass in the grading.
The students now move on to the purple belt where they will further their sparring and ground fighting and study more weapons including the nunchaju, Jo and Wakizashi.
