Marathon tiebreak in Busselton's A-grade tennis

08 Feb, 2012 10:02 AM
COLIN Miller and Fred La Rose held on to win a marathon tiebreaker 7-6 (13-11) in their A-grade round robin competition against David Davis and James McGregor at the Busselton Tennis Club on Saturday.

The game was decided by an anti-climactic double-fault but Davis and McGregor can make amends this weekend.

They will play for the runner-up trophy against Geoff Allen and Guedo Ghedina on Saturday.

Cliff Silke and Geoff Pearce teamed up to win their B-grade match 7-4 over Frank Marsh and David Whittaker.

In round two of the Albies Super Set 5 competition, club coach Ben McLaughlan partnered visitor Alan Morcomble to post a good win against Allan Gell and Wayne Jenkins, while Allison Hutchison and Esme Bibra beat Noelene Usher and Alison Cunningham 7-5.

Shane Brennan and Michael Harris defeated Brian Stewart and Paul Collins in a close encounter 7-5.

The club is currently offering half price memberships for those who sign up in February.
