WAYNE Jenkins won his singles match 9-6, against Sandy Sigelski in scorching conditions on Saturday to take out the final of the Busselton Tennis Club’s, singles challenge.
In other singles action on Saturday David Triffitt secured top place in Pool A of the handicap tournament by defeating David Davis 6-4.
Remaining matches to be played in Pool B this week will decide Triffitt’s opponent in the final to be played on February 25.
Alison Kirk and Sue Thomas have won their pools and will be the finalists in the women’s event.
Shane Weinman and Ianto Ward won their final match in the A-grade doubles round robin against James McGregor and David Davis 7-4 to win the inaugural event.
In the B-grade doubles Jack Knudson and Kevin Merifield beat Cliff Silke and Geoff Pearce 7-3 while Les Cousins and Doug Hutchison posted a win over Nigel Paine and Laurie Basten 7-5. Erik Schmidt and Grayden Clack won two matches earlier in the week.
Visitors to town are welcome to enjoy the lawn tennis experience at the Busselton foreshore venue on Wednesdays from 9.30am and Saturdays from 2pm.
