POWERFUL photographic images on canvas, and stunning artwork impressed the crowd at the Facing Fire: A Year to Remember and Act Belong Commit Heal Your Heart With Art exhibition on Thursday.
The Bushfire Recovery Working Group hosted this community exhibition at the Isaacs Cottage and Old Church Gallery in the Margaret River Community Resource Centre, featuring photographs, art and sculpture in commemoration of the first anniversary of the Margaret River fires.
A Bushfire Vase by local glass artist Gerry Reilly, representing a pyro-cumulus cloud, was presented to the Augusta-Margaret River Shire to commemorate the event.
The paintings and sculpture were created in the recent Act Belong Commit Heal your Heart with Art workshops.
A silent auction was held of the photos on canvas, with proceeds to community recovery activities, and a viewer’s choice award.
