IN response to recent claims appearing in the local press that there are no caravan dump points in the City of Busselton, I wish to clarify this for the benefit of both caravaners and residents.
Firstly, there are five* dump points across the municipality.
Several caravan parks within the city offer dump facilities to registered guests and, for a small fee, caravaners in transit.
At Kookaburra Caravan Park, which is owned and operated by the city, caravaners can utilise two dump points for a fee of around $5 depending on the size of their water tank which they usually refill at the same time.
A similar facility exists in Dunsborough at the city’s waste management site.
These facilities are advertised on caravan information websites and utilised extensively by registered guests at the Kookaburra Caravan Park and travellers passing through.
The city acknowledges caravaners as an important component of our tourist trade and we are in discussions with the Caravan Club of Western Australia about the possibility of a sixth point.
Additionally, we are working with the Geographe Bay Tourism Association and the Augusta-Margaret River Tourist Association to improve directional signage so that caravaners can better locate dump and turn-around points.
Mike Archer,
CEO City of Busselton
*Two dumps are located at Kookaburra Caravan Park, Beach-lands Caravan Park, the city owned waste treatment facility, Amblin Caravan Park (registered guests), Peppermint Park Eco Village (registered guests).
