FOR the past 108 years the Busselton Bowling Club has organised and run a mixed carnival in February, which continues to attract good numbers.
Sponsored by William Barrett and Sons, the nominated pairs were fortunate to have cooler conditions for the event.
A total of 24 pairs took to the green sfor three games of 13 ends, with a different format for each game.
The game is always popular with couples who don’t often have the opportunity to play bowls together.
After two games there were only seven teams with two wins.
Afternoon tea was served by the catering committee, and Sue Barrett presented the event winners with their prizes.
The winners were Anthony Ohlson and Liz Wilson on three wins plus 35.
In second place was Frank Priest and Corrie van den Heuvel with three wins plus 29, and third place went to Jennie Bruce and Syd Rogers with three wins plus 26.
The winners of Thursday’s ladies event, sponsored by Dots Pots, were Corrie van den Heuvel and Dianne Fancote with two wins plus 23.
Second place went to Helen Paganoni and Dianne Christie with two wins plus nine.
The Murray League won the interleague round robin held at Halls Head last Wednesday and Thursday, with South West in second place.
The club would like to congratulate Karen Gaglia who was chosen to play in the zone competition for the Country versus Metro team event in March.
