NOW that all the excitement of the state elections is over and we have invited Mr Buswell back to serve his loyal citizens I was wondering whether we might see a redress on the issue of school buses in the Busselton and Dunsborough region.
As we are so lucky to have the Minister for Transport as our representative I am sure the logical, fair and reasonable changes can be made to the current nonsensical system.
As previous residents have pointed out in published letters to the local papers, it seems unjust and irrational that kids living in Dunsborough town are forced to pay a fare each way to their nearest available high school, while kids outside of Dunsborough such as Eagle Bay, Yallingup and Quedjinup travel for free.
This adds hundreds of dollars per child, per year to the cost of high school education for many families who simply don’t have that money to spare.
Surely somebody in the hierarchy can see how this makes no logical sense and take the necessary steps to amend the situation.
I have paid for a bus service, as required, for a total of 15 years to date and attendance to Dunsborough Primary for two children and happily continue to do so, but really can’t see why I should draw the short straw for 10 years of high school, and believe me neither do any other Dunsborough parents.
