FOLLOWING years of community service, a Dunsborough woman was recognised for her efforts with the Zonta Community Service award this month.
Gay Growden was presented with the award recently as she was unable to attend the award ceremony organised by the Zonta Club of Dunborough on March 9.
The Country Women’s Association of Dunsborough nominated Mrs Growden for being an active member of the community, organising countless activities and fundraisers and for her volunteer work.
Mrs Growden has been a member of the Dunsborough branch since 1992 and the branch said she had achieved a lot within this time.
She has worked hard catering events, coordinating fundraising events for worthy causes such as the annual Women Walk and has worked with Cape Care to plan a new facility in Dunsborough to be built in the next few years.
Dunsborough Country Women’s Association honorary secretary Linda Smith said without Mrs Growden’s guidance, leadership and knowledge of people’s needs things would not be accomplished.
