FROM cape to cape in three days is one Singleton man’s challenge this Easter long weekend.
Daniel Clark started raising money for Variety Western Australia in 2011, walking the 135 kilometres between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leewin.
Previously Mr Clark has done the trek in four days and with a friend but this time he is cutting the time by a day and walking the journey by himself.
“I didn’t even bother asking people to join me this time,” he said.
“The other times it was hard to find people who were really up to it and this time because I’m doing it in three days for a bit of a challenge I thought I would be pushing it.”
Having been in the building industry for 10 years, Mr Clark said he would like other people in the same field to get behind the cause, as it was what influenced him to take on the challenge.
The Singleton resident first started when he was working for his previous employer Gimmel Homes.
While he admits he probably would have done the walk anyway, his employer was a big influence over his choice of doing it for Variety WA.
Mr Clark said Gimmel Homes, like his new employer Oswald Homes, are supporters and influenced him to support the local charity as well.
“Variety WA is all about empowering Western Austrailian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.” Mr Clark said.
“They make them feel comfortable and make them better if they can.”
He will take on 45km a day, along the track’s coastal scenery, sheltered forests and pristine beaches, within close proximity to the caves, vineyards and other features and attractions of the region.
Over the past three years Mr Clark has raised $7500, but has a goal on $10,000 this year through the Everyday Hero website.
