Police briefs 20-6

BUSSELTON City Councillor Tom Tuffin’s wife’s stolen car has been involved in a crash in Bedford and a 13-year-old Northam girl was apprehended.

The girl was detained by members of the public after the crash, but two others involved escaped.

An iPod which had been reported stolen from Willeton was also found in the car.

A car was broken into in West Busselton on Monday night, and another attempted robbery was averted by a property owner disturbing the thieves.

Two iPod Touches, a charger and a Nokia touch screen phone were stolen from a car on Kilchatten Crescent last night after thieves manipulated a back window lock to break into a four wheel drive.

A woman on Clydebank Avenue disturbed a burglar after she heard noises around 2am.

Thieves were trying to break into a car that was parked in a carport.

Senior Sergeant Steve Principe said people who left valuables in their vehicles were leaving themselves open to burglars.

“Vehicles are getting targeted in the early hours of the morning, so we will step up patrols in the West Busselton area.”

Vandals targeted the golf course on Fairway Drive in Busselton on Wednesday night doing a burnout on the green at the first hole.

Six fishing rods and four reels were stolen from a house on Resolution Road in Broadwater between Tuesday and Thursday after a garage door was left slightly open for pets to get in and out.

Fat Duck Cycles had a BMX stolen on Saturday night.

Burglars smashed a window and took the BMX bicycle with a red ‘blood splatter’ design on it.

The Busselton Community Garden on Strelly Street had a roller door forced open and milk, honey and jam stolen after 4.30pm on Saturday.
