Boats had been working all afternoon to rescue the animal.
A WHALE caught in fishing nets has been spotted in Geographe Bay near the Busselton Jetty today.
The whale surfaced on the western side of the jetty around 12pm.
People fishing report that they spotted the whale swam up to jetty and noticed it was tangled in nets.
Two boats from the Busselton Sea Rescue set out to try and assist the whale.
Michael Eades, who was fishing on the jetty at the time, said the whale was huge.
“It’s width was at least half that of the jetty, it was just massive.”
