THE local rivalry between the two Busselton teams served up a cracking and hard-fought game, with the Geographe girls finally coming out on top, beating their local rivals by a solitary goal.
As is so often the case with hard-fought local derbies, the scoreline doesn’t always reflect the possession passion, although Geographe were certainly worth the victory – surely even the most diehard Busselton fan would admit that one.
The teams seemed content to go into the break with the scores level.
A reshuffle at halftime brought a new impetus into the Geographe team and it was only fair when ex-Busselton girl Dana Avery slotted home the winner 15 minutes into the second half.
Geographe’s girls certainly didn’t sit back and had ample opportunities to increase the lead, although the solitary goal got them home in the end.
Geographe Bayview Resort best on ground was Jo Hodder, who did not put a foot wrong all day.
Next week’s cup tie against Hay Park should be a beauty, but all things are possible if you only believe.
