THE Black Dog WA ride is one step closer thanks to five South West Freemason lodges.
Freemason member Les James wanted to spread the good work of Black Dog Ride after he was involved in the ride to Alice Springs last year.
Naturaliste, Nannup Day, Sussex, Wellington and Margaret River lodges decided to help Black Dog Ride after founder Steve Andrews spoke about the not for profit organisation.
The Black Dog Ride began in 2009 when Mr Andrews travelled around Australia on a motorbike raising awareness for depression and suicide prevention.
The Black Dog Ride now has hundreds of people involved each year.
In previous years the Black Dog Ride has had to borrow a support trailer and with a national and state ride both on in August, the need for a second trailer increased.
That is when the five lodges decided to use their funds to purchase a trailer for the Black Dog Ride.
Wellington lodge member Peter Druskovich made sure they got the best quality trailer possible with the help of Bunbury Regional Prison inmates.
Last week the five lodges donated the trailer to Mr Andrews which fits recovery equipment, first aid and spare fuel.
