UPDATE: The City of Busselton Council have approved Busselton Early Education to move its business to Carey Street.
On July 23, council debated an alternative motion to include a noise management plan in the conditions of the approval.
Councillor Rob Bennett made the alternative motion to try and provide "comfort" to residents in the area.
"We cannot ignore the concerns of residents who live in the proximity of the child care centre," he said.
The centre will be able to hold a maximum of 43 children and will have up to seven staff members.
One of the main concerns which came out of the public consultation process was the impact noise would have for surrounding neighbours.
Cr Bennett's motion was lost four to five.
The officer’s report noted that there was no child care centre near the new location, providing a social benefit to the area.
After reviewing the application against the Scheme and Local Planning Policy 7A – Child Care Premises/Centres the officer said it satisfied the requirements.
The officer has added certain requirements for the centre which include a restriction of operating hours to 6.30am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday.
The centre must also submit a landscape management plan which includes the verge and a drainage management plan.
