ON Saturday the Busselton Magpies open netball team went up the hill to play Collie.
Shinae Dugan played a whole game at wing defence and did a great job in her first open match.
It was a slow start for the Magpies, letting Collie get the first six goals which proved to be critical at the end of the match.
Magpies were able to stay with the top team and were only six goals down at half time.
There were a number of changes in the second half which helped create much needed turnovers.
Collie changed their shooting line-up and took their big circle player back down to defend.
It was a great last quarter with strong play by both sides but Collie won 39 to 38.
Best on ground was Lauren Hanna.
Magpies 17s had a great day out on Sunday and played fantastic netball to win today against Eaton 44 to 37.
Everyone played their position well against some super tall defenders and their shooters were extremely accurate.
Ashleigh Lindley played her best game of the season so far, with some great work in the circle with Kate O'Leary for three quarters.
Madi Davies and Claire Jennings combined well in the circle and shut down their shooters time and time again.
After making changes at half time, despite the score being level, Busselton lost some of their momentum.
Changes were needed so they went back to our original line-up but O'Leary had a rest and Shinae Dugan went into GA.
The last quarter was outstanding by the Magpies with the team taking out the win by seven points.
While it was a great team effort best on ground was Ash Lindley and Monique Baker and game changer award to Shinae Dugan.
The reserves side also played Eaton on Sunday and had an interesting day to say the least.
It was a physical affair but Busselton managed to stay a few ahead of Eaton at the start of the match.
Great intercepts and smart passing saw the Magpies up by 11 at thee quarter time, but then O'Leary had played six quarters, and the team had run out of players.
Busselton were put into a tricky situation with a few options at hand.
The Magpies decided to take O'Leary off and play out the match with six players on the court.
Strength of character and smart teamwork got Busselton the points and left Eaton very unhappy.
Best on ground for the reserves was Tammy Thornley.
