AT just 19 years of age up and coming Dunsborough singer/songwriter Brayden Sibbald is quickly making a name for himself on local stages.
After gigging around the area for the past four years, Sibbald has started preparations for his first solo EP.
“I’ve got a whole lot of original songs but I have to cull them down a little bit,” he laughed.
“I’m aiming to have four or five songs on the EP.”
Sibbald who has played at a lot of South West venues including Caves House, Clancy’s and The Deck said his style of music could be described as acoustic folk with a touch of pop.
Winning the WAM 2012 Song of the Year competition in the world/folk section, Sibbald considers as his biggest musical achievement.
Sibbald said the main inspiration behind my lyrics come from everywhere; life experiences, interactions with other people, books and movies.
“A lot of artists influence me, but the main ones would be Ben Howard, Passenger, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.”
Sibbald was previously the lead singer for local band Needing Cherie, a five piece rock/folk band based in Dunsborough which is currently on a hiatus.
“I’d love to keep playing music and get paid for it professionally one day,” he said.
