THE region’s furry friends were the special focus for students taking part in National School Tree Day this week.
As part of the annual day GeoCatch and Busselton Toyota teamed up with local schools to plant trees which were specifically selected to provide a habitat for western ringtail possums.
National Tree Day was launched in 1996 and is Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event.
GeoCatch’s Bree Brown said the day was the perfect opportunity to connect school children with the habitat needs of a special little animal which lived in schools and the local community.
Busselton Toyota dealer principal Laurie Saltarini said it was their second year of supporting GeoCatch for the day and it was always a fun event.
The dealership supplied the plants for five local schools to take part in the day as well as donated money to Margaret River High School and St Joseph’s School to help with their sustainable garden as part of Tree Day.
