AS a result of Busselton Senior High School’s vast improvement in providing VET qualifications, they are a finalist in a prestigious award.
The school is a finalist in the WA Training Awards 2014 in the WA School Pathways to VET category.
In 1999 the school delivered two qualifications to 20 students and now delivers VET programs to 75 per cent of its senior students.
The school’s programs were initially aimed to meet the needs of students who didn’t plan on attending university and evolved into the school becoming a registered training organisation.
Training and workforce development minister Kim Hames said the awards allowed them to recognise and celebrate the endeavours of individuals and organisations that shape the state’s exceptional training system.
“I wish the team at Busselton Senior High School all the very best in this year’s awards,” he said.
Winners will be announced on September 11 and may have the opportunity to represent WA at the Australian Training Awards later in the year.
