THE Busselton Bombers finished the season undefeated after they outclassed the Capel Kakkas in Capel on Saturday.
The win means the Bombers finish the season with a 100 per cent record from their nine games and they are now gearing up for their first finals clash against Dunsborough
Capel, who finished the season winless, started the match hard and competed strongly with the Bombers in the first half.
However, after halftime Busselton’s class came to the fore and they kicked away from the Kakkas to win by 50 points, 86 to 36.
Rhys Stockley’s rebound off a half back flank was crucial to the Bombers win while midfielder Aaron Prince and back pocket Matt Gordon were also stand-outs for Busselton.
Bombers coach Scott Tondut said he was delighted with his team’s effort this season and was looking forward to the finals.
“Finishing the season undefeated is good but finals are a different story,” he said.
“The boys have worked really hard this year and in pre-season and we need to keep on doing this in the finals.”
Tondut said despite their unbeaten run the Bombers wouldn’t be taking their finals match with Dunsborough lightly.
“They [Dunsborough] have been the best team for the past 11 years so we won’t be taking them for granted and will need to play our best if we want to keep this winning streak going.”
The first final for the Busselton Bombers is at home against the Dunsborough Mulies at Bovell Park on August 30.
Bouncedown for the match is at 5.30pm and Tondut said he’d like for the community to get around them.
“It would be good to get some people to come down and support us in the finals,” he said.
