FOR sixty years Meals on Wheels WA has been providing nutritious and affordable meals delivered to those in the community who cannot easily shop or cook for themselves but are happy to make a modest contribution to the cost.
The organisation which has grown to become a driving force of care in the community will celebrate its 60th birthday on Thursday August 28.
BESS Home and Community Care who have been in partnership with the Busselton Senior Citizens Centre for more than 10 years is the sole provider of Meals on Wheels in Busselton after the hospital Meals on Wheels service no longer operates.
In WA the work of more than 90 volunteers means that 900000 meals are able to be delivered to 10000 clients each year.
