THE Busselton Bombers received a scare in the first semi-final against Dunsborough Mulies with a one point win and a grand final berth in Onshore Cup.
The largest margin for the day was the Bombers’ three goal lead at quarter time.
This soon changed with Dunsborough cutting the margin to just one point at half time.
While the Bombers had most of the play during the third quarter they couldn’t convert.
The toughness of the game showed with neither team scoring in the third quarter.
There was missed opportunities again for Busselton but they were able to reach a six point lead with just four minutes to go.
However, Dunsborough kicked a goal to even the score and made the last few minutes frantic for both sides.
Busselton’s Darren Kirkham managed to throw his boot on the ball to score a behind 35 metres out.
By then it was too late for Dunsborough and Bombers finished with another win.
Busselton coach Scott Tondut said the best players on the day were Mat Harbeck, Mat Gordon, Paul Northover and Wayne Hutchins.
The final score was 7.9 (51) to 8.2 (50).
Dunsborough will have another chance for a grand final place when they take on Nannup.
