FOOTBALL: The Carey Park Panthers were able to cruise to a 100 point victory over the Harvey Bulls in their inaugural game under lights at Kelly Park.
The Bulls got off to a fast start kicking the first goal of the match in the opening minute through Toby McNamara but Carey Park quickly pegged it back with one of their own to Jordan Aitken.
Carey Park’s fast transition was too much for Harvey to keep up with all night and it allowed them a hefty lead at the first interval.
Aitken booted three majors in the first time while Michael McGarry, David Roche, James Sebire, Sheldon Pickett and Viv Blurton also hit the scoreboard for the Panthers.
Harvey kicked three of their own in the first but still allowed Carey Park a 40 point lead at the first change.
The second quarter became a more stagnant affair.
Both sides were finding it tough to go forward but midfield class from Blurton, Reese Richardson, Brayden Lawler and David Roche saw Carey Park win the quarter four goals to zero.
Panther Matt Martin got involved in the second with two goals while Des Corbett and Lawler also scored for Carey Park.
The pace displayed by both sides in the first quarter returned after the main break with a total 10 goals being kicked, seven of which belonged to Carey Park.
The Panthers were moving the ball well through the middle of the ground and ruckman Michael Robinson was dominating the tall contests.
But some intelligent play from the Bulls saw them peg three goals back.
McNamara was again good in front of the big sticks while around the ground Glen Wallam and David Faulkner were finding plenty of disposals.
The Bulls managed to level the game in the final quarter with both sides kicking three goals apiece.
Blurton finished with two goals and plenty of touches in his 150th game while David Roche and Reese Richardson both dominated around the ground.
The signs look good for the Panthers heading into an important clash with Busselton next week before playing finals.
