MOTORISTS travelling South east of Busselton are being urged to be careful with prescribed burns occurring in the area.
The Department of Parks and WIldlife have warned residents 20 kilometres South East of Busselton that smoke may be visible from the burns on Wednesday.
Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and carefully follow traffic management signs when driving through areas affected by smoke.
People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
Prescribed burns create low-fuel areas in a mosaic of burnt and unburnt patches across the landscape, which help stem the spread of bushfires.
Prescribed burning is the primary tool available to Parks and Wildlife to manage fuel loads, which helps protect the community by minimising the impact of bushfires.
Details of the burns are available on Parks and Wildlife’s website at www.dpaw.wa.gov.au
