A NEW design for Dunsborough’s CBD has been put forward for public comment.
The City of Busselton aspires to provide more parking on and off the street in the main town area and work with the remaining land for improved pedestrian crossings and general landscaping.
The conceptual plan targets elements that address the growth pressures developing in the town centre of Dunsborough, including the need to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and general amenities around Seymour Boulevard/Dunsborough Place.
The city particularly encourages comment on the modifications for Dunsborough Place and the area adjacent to Dunn Bay Road roundabout.
The proposal for Dunsborough Place will involve realignment, raising and re-surfacing of the landscape.
The Dunn Bay Road area has two options available, one to retain some car parking bays and improve upon the landscape, the second is to convert the area entirely into garden space with car bay relocation occurring to the Naturaliste Terrace road median.
These suggestions are the result of immense public consultation throughout 2013 and the following Council adoption of the Dunsborough Town Centre conceptual plan earlier this year.
A proposed road layout for the CBD is ready to be viewed that outlines the objectives of the conceptual plan.
The proposal gives further access to Dunsborough Place, connecting Seymour Boulevard and Chieftain Crescent for more effective traffic flow.
The four year project promises improved pedestrian access through footpath networks, reduction of vehicle speeds and islands at road crossing points.
Increased car parking spaces and further landscaping for the town entrance is also promised as a part of the project.
The design proposal can be viewed on the city’s website, www.busselton.wa.gov.au.
Hard copies of the proposal are available at the City Administration building as well as the Dunsborough and Busselton libraries.
Submissions can be submitted electronically or Southern Drive, Busselton, WA.
