A WORLD premiere of the film Microbirth will be shown on September 20 at Orana Cinemas in Busselton as a part of a mass grass roots public screening.
Microbirth is a new hour long documentary being screened through community organisations across WA and the world.
The film investigates the most recent scientific research into the microscopic events that occur during childbirth.
The purpose of the work is to highlight how different methods of child birth could have life long consequences on the health and livelihood of the future of mankind.
Featuring leading scientists from the UK and North America, Microbirth suggests that modern birth practices could be creating problems with natural biological processes, leaving children susceptible to disease.
The Busselton premiere has been put together by the Busselton Birth Circle in conjunction with Birth Choices
“People need to talk about birth,” Birth Circle member Amy Garrett said.
“It’s mostly about bringing awareness to the idea that the way we are birthing has changed over time,
“How we are birthed can have a huge effect on our future health.”
Birth Circle is a locally organised non for profit group that discusses various elements of the birthing process and by doing so seek to empower women through their personal experience.
“Birth Circle is a place for women to talk about birth in an unprejudiced space,” said Ms Garrett.
All proceeds raised from the Microbirth screening will be given directly to Birth Choices, a branch of the Raising Children Network.
Doors open at 10.30am with tea and coffee being offered prior to the screening at 11am.
Esyltt Graham from Chiropractic First in Collie will be making an appearance after the screening for a question and answer session.
