WA artists celebrated the new City of Busselton Art Award at Artgeo on Friday night.
In June the City of Busselton council voted to change the award which meant any artist in WA could enter and larger prize money.
The first prize was $10,000 plus a five week exhibition in Artgeo.
A prize went to Emerging Artist which was worth $2,500 as well as a People’s choice award worth $500.
There was more 100 entries into the competition with respected artists Monique Tippett and Olga Cirons as judges.
The People’s Choice award has not been decided so the public can still vote until October 26.
The exhibition will run from September 20 to October 26.
