IT'S almost time to move in as the brand new $120.4 million Busselton Health Campus is having the finishing touches placed upon it.
Millions of dollars have been placed on state of the art equipment in preparation for the upcoming move into the new facilities.
Immense staff training is also being undertaken to ensure the required knowledge and skills for health professionals are in place to provide optimal care, safety and wellbeing to future patients.
With over 8,300 pieces of equipment to be located to over 600 rooms and areas as previous manually operated equipment is replaced by new electric models, Senior Project Officer Lyn Mueller said emphasis is being placed on reducing risk of injury to staff while ensuring optimum patient safety and comfort.
“Recently 19 clinical and support staff members attended training on new ceiling mounted hoists using a mobile unit set up by the installation company 4 Healthtec,” she said,
“The new hoists have a variety of slings depending on patient need such as moving from bed to chair or chair to standing as well as turning assistance and a leg sling to assist in dressing procedures to lower limbs,
“The slings also have features which can assist patient rehabilitation.”
The Busselton heath Campus will have five hoists, two in standard rooms and three in bariatric rooms.
Shower trolleys, a new ED ventilator, bladder scanners, an electronic blood taking chair which can convert to a couch and an anaesthetic machine are all some of the newest equipment that will find a home at the Busselton Health Campus.
Existing medical equipment which meets required standards will be transferred to the new campus however the majority of equipment shall be completely new.
