THE Festival of Busselton committee is preparing for its 51st event with plans to have many more after.
The 2015 Festival shall mark a revival rather than a conclusion to the event, with a new president, new committee members and a dynamic events coordinator all having big plans for the future.
New President of the Festival of Busselton committee Mike Berson said Busselton is the type of town that ultimate country living is based on and is why the Festival is so successful.
“People in the street are friendly; neighbours will go a long way to be helpful; shopkeepers will find what you want or tell you where else to look and motorists are relaxed and courteous,” he said,
“Local community member’s work together to make the Festival happen and feel like they have a stake in the success,
“The festival helps build and sustain the strong community spirit that exists in the town.”
This year will also see the involvement of a number of enthused new committee members.
Secretary of the committee Leia Hunt is a former Festival Queen and knows exactly what the event needs to make it a success.
Mr Berson said that along with having a young child and running two businesses Ms Hunt still finds time to advance the work of the committee.
Treasurer of the committee Paul Gardiner and his family have a long term link to the Festival which Mr Berson said gives Mr Gardiner great insight into creating a solid foundation to build new ideas onto.
Events co-ordinator Samantha Dixon brings enthusiasm and vast experience into the planning process for the Festival.
Advertising coordinator Caroline Rainsford is an enterprising woman who has always been linked to the City of Busselton.
Sandra Fuller is a productive committee member who gives full support to the Festival, particularly by being the right hand woman to the secretary.
The committee is always on the look out for new members, in particular they invite anyone who might be interested in the vital role of Queen Coordinator to liaise between the Festival Queen Entrants and clubs to jump on board.
Combined, the committee said with over 15,000 people expected to attend the Festival of Busselton events it is one not to miss.
