THE Light the Night Busselton event will be on Saturday November 22 commencing from the Esplanade Foreshore opposite Signal Park.
Light the Night is an event that seeks to raise funds for the prevention of leukaemia, with all money raised going to the Leukaemia Foundation to further the search for a cure.
With more than 60,000 Australians currently living with blood disorders and at least 31 cases being diagnosed every day the need for ongoing research is more prevalent than ever.
Busselton event organiser Dawn Blanchard became involved after close family members were diagnosed with various blood disorders.
”It’s very close to my heart,” Ms Blanchard said.
Lantern colour is significant with gold lanterns reflecting lost loved ones, white lanterns representing individuals who have been affected by blood cancer and blue lanterns showing support for those battling the disease.
“The lanterns shine hope for people battling the disease and shine hope for finding a cure,” Ms Blanchard said.
Lantern collection will begin from 5.30pm with entertainment from 6pm and the official Light the Night Walk commencing at 7.30pm.
“It’s going to be a real family friendly event, with face painting and live music,” Ms Blanchard said,
“Busselton is a great community and I’m sure they’ll get behind the event.”
Light the Night invites everyone interested to participate in the walk along the iconic Busselton jetty to help give hope and much needed funds to improve treatments and find a cure for leukaemia.
Sign up now and guarantee a lantern to carry during the walk, with lanterns also being sold for $10 at the event until they run out.
