WHAT’S it like to be the ‘next big thing’ in modelling?
Just ask Dudley Park teenager Ebony Hunter.
Fresh off the catwalk at Perth Fashion Festival, the 17-year-old Mandurah Catholic College student has been hailed as a face to watch in the future of fashion.
Signed to Chadwick Models in Perth and Storm Models in London, Ebony has a promising future as a top model.
But first she needs to finish her year 12 exams.
“It’s pretty weird,” she said.
“I’m at school during the day and modelling at night.
“But with exams coming up I need to focus on them.”
Taking on her final year of schooling was something Ebony’s parents were passionate about.
“We really encouraged her to finish school,” mum Colleen said.
“We’re all really proud of her.”
And with her school days nearly behind her, Ebony said she wasn’t yet sure what her next step would be.
“I will probably go to London next year to model,” she said.
“I have no idea what I really want to do yet.
“It’s all exciting though.”
A favourite of top fashion designer Alex Perry and Myer, Ebony’s talents have been snapped up by metropolitan magazines, with the young beauty gracing catwalks and style pages in everything from cutting-edge designs to bridal wear.
And while the local girl loves the modelling world, and would one day like to ‘walk’ for Prada or Chanel, she is just as happy at the beach with her friends.
“They’re really great about all this,” Ebony said.
“I’m just a normal girl.”
Her mum agreed.
“Ebony has no attitude about things,” Mrs Hunter said.
“You can’t be like that.
“She’s just a gorgeous girl.”
