COUNCIL has knocked back the proposal to rename Julianne Street for the second time.
At a council meeting on Wednesday night it was decided the city will install signage which clearly identifies where one street ends and the other starts, with a review to take place in 12 months.
A subdivision of land in 2005 created a section of public road between the two streets.
The subdivision developer proposed the new link of road and Julianne Street was renamed to Jones Way.
Council knocked back this proposition as they believed the name change would be inconvenient to the residents living on Julianne Street.
In February this year residents from Barkle Close, Jones Way and Julianne Street signed a petition asking council to again consider changing the name of the street to Jones Way.
They believe it is confusing for people especially for emergency services.
With five properties on Julianne Street opposing the name change and one voting in favour, councillor Terry Best recommended additional signage be installed with a review to happen in 12 months time.
Residents opposing the change claim the road naming does not cause confusion as the streets are clearly marked on maps and GPS systems.
Julianne Street property owners also feel if there was to be a name change their street existed first and should be given priority over Jones Way.
