BUSSELTON’S events are being urged to apply for funding as part of the Tourism WA Regional Events Scheme.
The funding will be for events in 2015-16 and can receive up to $50,000.
Nat Geo People channel is just one event in the area which has benefited from the funding in the past.
Acting tourism minister John Day said the funds would support events which aim to bring people to the region and attract media attention on the community.
“The scheme plays an important role in promoting all of WA as an exciting destination,” he said.
Regional development minister Terry Redman said Royalties for Regions had funded more than 200 regional events since July 2011.
“This funding provides additional opportunities to encourage visitors to regional Western Australia, contributing towards building strong and sustainable communities,” Mr Redman said.
“With the continued support of Royalties for Regions, these small, developing regional events will continue to involve and inspire the local community while enhancing the overall vitality and vibrancy of WA.”
Applications close on January 12.
