Despite the stormy conditions last week good numbers entered the Squid and Whiting Dash for Cash competition.
The morning started with a bacon and egg burger breakfast at the Naturaliste game and sports fishing club house where fishers discussed their tactics.
Also in attendance was a researcher from Murdoch University who took samples of the days catch as part of his research into Southern Calamari.
In the seniors category Des McDermott caught the heaviest squid with Shannon Wake catching the heaviest whiting.
Adam Yull came second for heaviest squid and Shannon Wake took third place.
Second place for heaviest whiting went to Greg Baird and third place to Barry Conway.
The junior heaviest catch was taken by Cody Langridge and heaviest whiting, Kade Mas.
Kade Mas came second in heaviest junior with Kelly Albrey third.
Kelly Abrey also took second place in the heaviest whiting.
