A 21-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a car crash overnight in Treeton, near Margaret River.
The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Friday, October 24 when a vehicle driven along Jindong-Treeton Road collided with a tree.
The woman was a passenger in the vehicle and the 23-year-old male drive received minor injuries and was conveyed to the Bunbury Hospital for treatment.
The woman is believed to be a Margaret River local.
Margaret River Police officer Kath Flanagan said the incident, like any fatality, was a tragic loss of life.
“It’s tough for anyone to respond to something like this,” she said.
“It affects not only friends and family but also extends to all parts of the community, including emergency responders.”
Officer Flanagan reminded all drivers to be safe on the roads.
“It’s a message said a thousand times: take your time, stick to the road rules, and be aware of your surroundings,” she said.
Margaret River Police attended the accident along with St John Ambulance and Margaret River Fire & Rescue Service.
Police investigations are ongoing.
