If Dane Thorbjorn Olesen produces a final round at Lake Karrinyup on Sunday as bad as his third, he's likely to win the IPSP HANDA Perth International.
The 24-year-old holds a three-shot lead going into the final day of the European and Australian tour co-sanctioned event after producing a five-under par round of 67 on Saturday.
He is on 16-under, three shots ahead of Korean Sihwan Kim, who dropped a shot on the 18th hole to card a 69.
Olesen, who said he will definitely feel nervous on Sunday having not won a tournament in over two years, led by as many as five shots on Saturday - but admits that he struggled to gain any momentum during the round.
"I tried to go out there and be aggressive like I did the first two days, but I didn't have the game today," he said.
"Didn't feel good. I was struggling out there. I made some great up and downs to keep it going.
"So it was a fight all the way through. I was a bit off line out there with a few tee shots, but I kept on fighting. I hit some good iron shots from some tough positions.
"It's awesome to shoot five-under today with struggling a little bit.
"I'll definitely take five-under tomorrow, I think. It'll be tough to catch me if I shoot five-under."
Olesen started the third round one shot behind half-way leader, Peter Whiteford of Scotland.
He birdied the first to go to 12-under and then picked up two more shots on the third and fourth holes. He then produced three more birdies on holes 11, 12 and 14, with just one blemish on 15.
Kim, who is good friends with last year's Perth International winner, fellow South Korean Jin Jeong (who missed the cut this week) and will have dinner with him on Saturday night, needs a top two finish this weekend to retain his European Tour card for 2015.
He has given himself every chance after backing up opening rounds of 66 and 68 with a 69 on Saturday.
An eagle on the 302m par 4 14th hole had him at five-under for his back nine after going out in one-over. However, he missed a par putt on the final hole.
The last time the pair had played together was in Dubai earlier this year when Olesen beat Kim by 10 shots on the day.
Overnight leader Peter Whiteford couldn't match his opening two rounds of 66, shooting a two-over 74 on Saturday. He'll go in to the final round six shots behind Olesen.
Whiteford started his third round well, with a birdie on the first hole, but bogies on six and seven saw the pressure mount.
He dropped shots on 10, 13 and 16, making up just one on 15 in a disappointing day.
England's James Morrison remains in contention at 12-under par. He followed his new tournament record round of 63 on Friday with a 69 on Saturday.
He went out in one-under to start his third round, but birdied five of the first six holes on his back nine and will take some momentum into the final round.
As will American Peter Uihlein, carded the lowest score for the third round, with a seven-under par, 65.
After rounds of 69 and 71, he is on 11-under going into Sunday and not without a chance, five shots from the lead.
Richard Green is the best placed Australian, tied for fifth at 10-under and six shots away from the lead after his round of 70, following a pair of 68s on the opening two rounds.
Scot David Drysdale is also at 10-under.
World number 24 Charl Schwatrzel will need everything to go his way on Sunday to claim victory, starting in a tie for seventh spot with five other players (Mark Foster, Lucas Bjerregaard, Gary Stal, Stephen Dartnall and Whiteford) after his third round 70 that included just four birdies.
World number 23 Victor Dubisson is one shot futher back at eight-under par and Jason Dufner (ranked 31 in the world) is at seven-under par after his third round 69.
